Bob's year.
At class...
Writtle College Dog Club. The dog training club has moved to Writtle College. Here are a few pictures of some of Bob's classmates this year.
At home(s)...
The year started quietly enough with sunshine and showers.
But when we got to Burgundy at Easter we had plenty of snow for Bob to play in.
And when the weather kept us indoors - Bob was not short of toys to play with there either...
But it was not until later in the year when Jacques and Wendy gave him his best toy ever (so far) which is a rubber chicken. This is now the first thing he looks for at the house in France and he has to play with it from before his early morning walk right through to bedtime. Even sleeping in the sun with it.
Of course that didn't mean that he had no time to play with his other toys.
Or snooze alternately in the sun and the shade.
Or indeed to find 'toys' of his own while we were out walking.
And, he could always be relied upon to help us find our way when we were out and about.
Once back indoors after a tiring day Bob had the skills to relax in his favourite spots.
Or just mooch around the house.
Dinosaur: Back home Bob was reunited with an old favourite. Catherine has managed to find a replacement dinosaur. Dinosaur was one of Bob's earliest toys and had gradually been reduced to a flap of rubber - but was still highly valued. With the arrival of new dinosaur it has taken over as toy number one at home and I can't think that there has been a single day at home when dinosaur hasn't seen some action.
Of course playing with dinosaur can be tiring too...
Toot Hill Show: Ever popular - Bob was spotted by Faye who brought her friends along to stroke him. Bob was very well behaved and approached the situation with an air of caution and resignation in equal measures.
Chew: Paul and Diana gave Bob some large hide chews (a reasonable size for their labrador). They last Bob several days each, and as you can see he needs a rest partway along. The remainder of the chew is the light coloured item poking out under his chin.
Bradwell Show: We went along to Bradwell show on a very wet and windy day in September. Alongside the village show was a dog show organised by one of the trainers who goes with us to Writtle College, so we went along to show our support. Bob entered five events and came away with a rosette for each. His tally was: 1st for best trick, 2nd for both best rescue and fancy dress, 3rd for best six legs (assisted by David) and 4th for choc drop catching. And, before you consider the possibility of favouritism, although we knew the organiser we had never met the judges before.
Autumn: Back in France, here's Bob just after his visit to the Vet in Etang-sur-Arroux (to get his passport signed for the return journey).
Spike: And finally a quick look at Spike. Spike lives next door in Ongar and we looked after him for a day in the summer. Apart from Bob being a little jealous they had a good day together. Spike can play for as long as Bob - so we were tired out!
