Bob's year.

At class...
Wood Farm Dog Club. Now in his fifth year, here are a few pictures of Bob and his friends in action.
At home...
The year started (as it often does) with attempts to make Bob a coat so that he did not get so muddy on his walks.
The rest of the year seemed to be split between playing......
Relaxing....
And a curious mix of both
With the occasional break for a snack.
And to finish the year as we started - here is another coat for Bob. This time it was his outfit for the dog club Christmas party fancy dress competition. (See the other dog's outfits in the Wood Farm Dog Club section.) The jacket has an embroidered patch on the back saying "Biker Bob - Woof Pack"
On holiday...
Transport. Whenever we start to load a car for the journey in either direction you can be sure that Bob will be on hand to make sure that he is not missed out. This, quite naturally, also extended to the van when we took the piano down to Burgundy.
And once on the journey, Bob makes sure that he is as comfy as possible.
Once on holiday when he is not relaxing in the sun....
Or playing on the lawn.
He likes the many new walks, especially in the forests.
Where he can indulge in his passion for carrying huge sticks around.
Of course this tires him out for the rest of the day.
And he can hardly concentrate in the evening when it's his turn at scrabble.
And some nights he is so tired he doesn't even want to go for his last walk before bedtime.
For anyone wrongly thinking that Bob is always a little angel then here is a short anecdote.

Preparing for an afternoon departure to France we showered Bob the night before departure - his white fur was iridescent and silky smooth and he had the gentle scent of Johnsons's baby shampoo (no prizes for guessing where all this is leading).

Knowing he would be cooped up in the car for a few hours we gave him an extra long walk at the lunchtime before our departure. We were almost home from the walk when an alien creature trotted up in between us causing Anne to exclaim "that's not my dog!". This creature had slicked back hair plastered down with thick black hair gel. Not just the head, or head and shoulders, but almost everywhere - down his back and sides, all four legs and even his tail. The chain link section of his collar no longer jingled as it was packed tight with what looked like mud - but wasn't.

This was just two hours before we had to set off for our crossing to France. After a robust march home two cleaning teams were formed. Anne drew the short straw while I cleaned the collar (which was disgusting enough in it's own right).

Despite the stench it wasn't going too badly in the shower until, just at the point where the Bob was fully wet and the foul smelling goo was diluted enough to begin to dripping rivulets of fragrant brown sludge, he decided to shake. Anne wasn't actually planning to have a mudpack, especially one of this particular fragrance, but now she was covered head to foot herself including her hair. The shower cubicle in the mean time had had a pebbledash makeover. This of course increased the workload as now both Anne and the shower needed a good clean once the dog had been rinsed off.

And so it was we came to be cooped up in the car with a damp dog smelling of Johnson's baby shampoo with an underlying whiff of fox poo.

That night was spent in a hotel in France which meant we were confined with him car - hotel room - car until the next afternoon. And it was almost another week before the scent of fox dropping dispelled to an unnoticeable level.

Our little angel had been so proud when he trotted up between us with his new slicked back fragrant hairdo - obviously hoping to wow the lady dogs in France. Since then he is under intense scrutiny when we taking him for walks both before and during the journeys to France.

No pictures because we were too busy dealing with the effects to go looking for the camera!
