Bob's year.
At class...
Writtle College Dog Club. Here are a few pictures of some of Bob's classmates this year.
At home(s)...
Toys: Bob's collection of toys just keeps growing as he doesn't tend to kill them. He was very happy with the duck he got last Christmas and it still makes very regular appearances. In France Bob has two favourite toys, one is a rubber chicken that he collects as soon as we arrive and then it needs to be payed with almost endlessly. The second is a squeaky cube that Alex left for him - for when the chicken is outdoors and the door is shut.
Sticks: If we were to take pictures of all the sticks that Bob found for himself around while we were out on walks then we could fill a very large book. Suffice to say that bigger is always better and Bob never considers himself to be a small dog. One other thing he never considers is the combined width of dog and stick, so you need to be wary if he is carrying a long stick or he will run it into your legs.
Sleep: Another of Bob's hobbies is snoozing. Special favourite spots are on anyone's lap (siesta time included) or in any patch of sunshine.
Poses: Not one to be shy of the camera, As soon a camera is lifted Bob will always try to get into shot and present his best side. That's why most visitors leave us with a camera full of pictures of Bob - whether they intended to or not.
Play: We all know Bob's skills at playing. Here are a couple of pictures of him enjoying just racing around on his own while we were out walking.
Guard: As part of his duties Bob guards takes guarding his empires against the menace of cats and postmen very seroiusly. Here he is in France, just checking that the cows across the valley are not going to get too close.
Birthday: Our local pet shop (now under new ownership and 1000% better than before) is trying many new ideas. One is to make doggy birthday cakes. Here is Bob's, which he was just allowed a sniff of before sharing it with his friends at agility class.
Fame and fortune.
Dogs Today: At the insistance of one of our dog training instructors I sent a picture of Bob in to Dogs Today magazine. It was printed in the February edition along with a heavily edited version of my accompanying letter.
Fancy Dress: Bob has taken part in two fancy dress competitions at the local pet store this year. The first was for comic relief, where he wore his super'man' outfit. To publicise the event the local press came along and took pictures of several of the entrants. It was a surprise to see that the only dog to appear in the local paper was Bobby.
The second competition (for Halloween) only drew a few entries, and you can see from Bob's expression what he thought of it!
Bronze again: Although Bob already has his silver in the Kennel Club 'Good Citizen Dog Scheme' our club have started testing to the very similar 'National Code' scheme run by the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers. Unfortunately neither counts as equal to the other so we have to start at Bronze again. Bob was OK but I was a bit worried I might let him down on my Q&A session, fortunately I didn't.
Some of Bob's friends in France
Tilly, Sally, Barney and Robbie live at Sermages (about half an hour away from St. Léger). Bob does try to show off a little and plays endlessly with all of their toys.
And some puppy pictures for no good reason other than they are cute...
Biscuit and Rufus: Gerry took a dog from a rescue kennel without realising that it was pregnant at the time. Result - a litter of puppies. Gerry kept Rufus, While Catherine took on Biscuit.
